WHO IS CONDUCTING THIS SONGCAMP?

Donna is joined by multi-instrumentalist Samir Moussa, Global Winning International Artist and HMMA Winner for Best Alternative Song.

SCHEDULE (subject to change)

9:30 am - ARRIVAL

9:45 am - Assemble for Introductions and Opening of Workshop. Let's get the "business part" out of the way first. The Business part of Songwriting. What is a PRO ? Why do you need a PRO to write for Movies?

Q & A

10:15 am. Let's learn what it takes to write a song. What is Song Form? Discussion of sensory-bound writing and applying those techniques, contrast, point of view, rhyme schemes, writing to the hook and composing for movies vs. songwriting.

Donna will discuss the movie storyline, key phrases from the script and scenes and the overall "mood-vibe" of the song to be written will be discussed. 2-3 songwriters will be paired up together and given a title. Each songwriter in the group will prepare a list of synonyms, perfect rhymes and near rhymes for every word in your title.

11:15 pm SMALL GROUP SONGWRITING SESSION: WRITING TO A TITLE!

You will break-off from the large group to start writing your song. Start with the title first (your chorus). Then move onto your storyline and begin to write your 1st Verse. Each group will have someone who plays an instrument so you can work on both lyrics and melody. Donna & Samir will be separated and be with their group of 2-3 songwriters. If we have 12 people attending there will be 4 groups with 3 songwriters in each group.

NOON LUNCH BREAK: Lunch and beverages will be provided

12:45 pm -- CONTINUE SMALL GROUP SONGWRITING SESSION:

2:15 pm-- We will gather as a group and you will share the song you just wrote. Donna & Samir will provide suggestions on what may (or may not) be needed to strengthen the song.

3:15 pm - WRAP-UP. Donna & Samir will perform a few songs they have written together.

3:45 pm END OF WORKSHOP.

We are so excited to spend the day with you and bring you into our world of making music for movies.

SOME IMPORTANT THINGS:

1.    We will provide you with a copy of what is called a  "co-writer split form" in the music business.  All attending songwriters involved in the session will need to sign this form (it's a fill in the blank, name, address, contact information and PRO info). Don't worry if you are not a member of a PRO (ASCAP, BMI or SESAC), we can help you setup that entity (outside of this workshop) and YES you can still participate if you do not have a PRO.

This form will also state that you understand the following terms:

2.    If the movie producer is interested in featuring the song we write together in Molly Girl Music's Summer Songwriting Workshop for their movie, the song will need to be professionally recorded so that it "broadcast quality" and can be licensed and featured in the movie.

3.  The cost of the recording will be split between all of the Summer Songwriting Workshop songwriters who are involved in the morning break-out songwriting session.   This does not include Donna and Samir as they will donate their time to arrange, produce and oversee the song during the recording process through final completion.

4.  Donna & Samir will select who the "featured artist or artists" on the track will be.   Background vocalists will be selected based upon their skill level and ability to harmonize in "key" without much instruction.

4.  The Sweet Spot Studio will be offering a discounted recording package  for the song that is written in this workshop.   More on this later.

5.  If you are under 18, a Parent/Legal Guardian of the Songcamp attendee can sign the form in addition to you signing it.

Please email Donna Bukevicz at mollygirlmusic@gmail.com if you need more information.

We look forward to creating hit songs with you!
